What's On in the region
The delights of Trentham
You can walk to our small local pub in the middle of the countryside – the Pig and Whistle at East Trentham. It has Irish origins and really good food at a reasonable cost. (There is live Irish music once a month.) The Pig has a courtesy bus.
Five minutes away by car is the village of Trentham with its trendy cafes, including Red Beard Bakery, Trentham General, Chaplin’s and Wild Thyme; there are two gastro pubs which have won awards (The Cosmopolitan, with its beautiful beer garden, and The Plough); and the highly regarded restaurant of Annie Smithers, called du Fermier (The French Farmhouse).
The other attractions of Trentham include specialist shops, the Trentham Farmers Market, the Trentham Golf Course, bush walks (Wombat Trail and Domino Rail Trail), the Trentham Falls and The Garden of St Erth.
10 minutes on from Trentham is the Radio Springs Hotel at Lyonville, another gastro pub which has an English pub feel. The Radio Springs has a courtesy bus. The Cosmopolitan and the Radio Springs feature live music, generally of the folk, blues and Irish variety, from Fridays to Sundays.
